Quality Services to Support Communitiesgrassroots graphic

The Forum provides services that are core to our mission, as well as customized services to support developing individuals, organizations and communities.

Central to our mission is to provide core services around youth engagement, training and professional development, program, organizational development, leadership development, resource development and policy development services to catalyze a paradigm shift in the youth development field to adoption of positive youth development approaches.

In addition to those core services that help us to fulfill our mission, we also offer customized services that move individuals, organizations and communities from paradigm shift to sustained quality practice. These services include more detailed and specific programming of the aforementioned service areas, and can also include facilitation, training, and technical assistance services that support every aspect of development.

Each of these areas of support are connected to a number of the Forum’s seven domains of work. Below are brief synopses of the Forum’s service offerings. Click on a link for detailed descriptions:

Teen SmilingFacilitation Services:  We work to ensure the integrity of our convening's by attempting to have every voice of a particular community represented. We accomplish this with each group that we convene through interviews with stakeholders, informal visits to the community, and advance preparation that includes research and pertinent assessments as needed. We seek to establish a collaborative framework through which we can engage communities to further dialogue that supports community learning.

Consultation Services:  Forum executive, leadership development, organizational development and training staff help foundations, organizations and community groups design and manage implementation of new projects, on old projects that need new perspective. We work on projects of all sizes by developing workgroups for partners that stress our “building group capacity, not being group capacity” approach.

Technical Assistance:   The Forum provides a host of technical assistance services within three categories: 1) consultation, 2) program development, and 3) organizational development. Most of the services are provided at low cost or no cost. Where possible, the Forum attempts to leverage existing grants, projects, or other resources to provide services to communities for free. Some of the technical assistance supports (executive consultation, organizational development) require ongoing and/or comprehensive engagements, and thus may be executed through formal agreement.
