Sponsorships
The Forum is committed to supporting activities and events that create access and opportunities for youth and community members to engage in positive ways. Principally, our support for these events are shown by helping to communicate to New Mexico that the event is happening, supporting the event through staff attendance or by agreeing to help plan, develop or deliver aspects of the event to ensure its success.
But there are times when the Forum will work with other partners to sponsor an event. Though financial sponsorship of an event is not our norm, we do take pride in all of the events that we have been able to sponsor over the years.
Sustainability Week 2009: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Green Built Tour
The Forum sponsored this event by helping the U. S. Green Building Council New Mexico Chapter
www.usgbcnm.org coordinate volunteers to work as guides on the tour, as well as by purchasing tickets to the tour which were then made available to communities and youth who were interested in renewable energy, art and architecture, construction and making a difference in the survival of our planet.
The event was held from Friday May 8th to Sunday May 17th, 2009. The tour stretched from Albuquerque as far North as Taos and as far west a Grants and Gallup.
West-Southwest: The ABQ-LA Exchange at 516 Arts.
Through the West Southwest ABQ-LA Exchange, 516 Arts and LA Artcore produced shows in both cities to expose people to culture and art that is spoken word poetry. In partnership with the Office of African American Affairs, the Forum sponsored a performance by Michael Datcher, the LA based author of the New York Times Bestseller Raising Fences. The Forum’s sponsorship made it possible for community and youth members who are interested in the arts to connect to this special event.
In addition to Michael Datcher’s performance, local artists Maisha Baton, Hakim Bellamy, Idris Goodwin, Virginia Hampton, Gary Jackson and Stephanie Willis also performed.
Warehouse 508: Fight for Your Right Youth Jam on Civic Plaza.
The opening of Warehouse 508, ABQ’s teen arts and entertainment center, marks more than three years of collaboration between the City of Albuquerque and city youth. Warehouse 508 will offer classes in the digital and classic arts, film editing, sound production and more, as well as opportunities to perform music in a professional, safe and alcohol-free venue. The Forum helped sponsor the “Fight for Your Right” youth jam to help raise funds to renovate the Warehouse 508 facility.
